Dr. Murray Garde
Murray Garde is a consultant anthropologist and linguist working in Arnhem Land and Kakadu National Park. From 1988 through to 1999 he lived in the north-central Arnhem Land community of Maningrida and also on outstations in the Liverpool and Mann rivers districts of western Arnhem Land. During this time he first worked as a visiting homeland centre teacher and then as curator of the Djómi Museum in Maningrida and cultural research officer for the Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation. In the two decades 1990-2009 he worked with the Warddeken LML founder Lofty Bardayal Nadjamerrek and was part of the team that established Kabulwarnamyo land management centre in the early 2000s. He is a NAATI accredited interpreter in Bininj Kunwok languages of western Arnhem Land.
